1.Well Man Medical

Prior to the consultation you will need to complete our medical questionnaire ,as this information helps to highlight any special concerns. 

WHAT TESTS ARE CARRIED OUT?

  • Haematology profile (FBC)
  • Liver function tests (LFT)

A regular medical examination gives you useful information about your health and can sometimes also highlight familial or genetic conditions. Advice will be provided with regard to the management of any short-term and long-term medical problems.

Please remember to fast (ie. no food, but water is allowed) for 14 hours beforehand, to ensure accurate cholesterol and glucose results.

3.DIVING MEDICAL

 
WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The basic consultation and examination only require one visit which lasts thirty minutes. The diving medical focuses on the standard diving medical application form, which the patient has to bring to the consultation with his/her log-book.
The important issues are the patients medical history, family history and current medications.The examination includes an assessment of the blood pressure, pulse, heart, lungs, body mass index, urine analysis and general health status of the individual. Occasionally a chest xray and/or an ECG (electrocardiograph) will be mandatory.

The ECG will be performed in our clinic, by our nurse. The chest xray will be taken in one of our local radiology departments, arranged by our doctor. Subsequently the completed form will be signed and stamped by our doctor, detailing your medical fitness to dive.

4.PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The consultation and examination only require one visit which lasts thirty minutes. The medical focuses on the patient’s medical history, family history and current medications while the examination includes an assessment of the blood pressure, body mass index, eye sight, urine analysis and general health status of the individual.
Subsequently a written profile will be forwarded to the patient and/or to his/her employer, outlining all results and recommendations made by our doctor.

WHAT ADDITIONAL TESTS CAN BE INCLUDED?

These tests are performed in our clinic but only if specifically requested by the employer. It is therefore advisable to discuss this with the doctor in advance, as these investigations are not part of the routine pre-employment medical. These also carry an additional fee.
  • Toxicology Screen (to assess for illegal drug use)
  • Electrocardiograph (ECG)
  • Spirometry
  • Haematology profile (FBC)
  • Liver biochemistry (LFT)
  • Kidney biochemistry (U&E)
  • Thyroid function test
  • Fasting Lipids

Some of the additional tests as listed below are carried out in a local hospital , which our doctor will arrange ;
  • Chest Xray
  • Stress/Exercise ECG

5. INSURANCE  MEDICALS

The practice receive the relevant forms from your Insurance Company.

Patient/client is contacted by the Insurance Company and advised to contact their GP to arrange an appointment.

Client/patient should phone the Rowe CreavinPractice on 051 370057 and ask to arrange a full medical for insurance purposes.
An appointment will be arranged without delay with the appropriate doctor. Each patient will require a 40 minute appointment with the GP and, in the case of a straight forward medical,papers are completed and the medical is returned by post on the same day as the medical is carried out.

Where tests are requested/required by the Insurance Company, once the tests are received by the Practice all results and medicals are returned to the Insurance Company immediately.

All medicals are scannedinto patients charts.

Ante Natal Classes
Now being run by Claire Bulfin, a Cuidiu antenatal teacher and midwife. Couples welcome. The 1 day weekend course including lunch covers all you need to know for the arrival of your new baby!  

Breastfeeding Support Group
Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the Month 10am -12noon. All welcome. Meet other breastfeeding mothers and enjoy refreshments from the on site cafe.
